well i got this far. can't find my fuel pump, fuel pump rod, fuel pump mount spacer thing, intake manifold ends. but i did get the tin work fitting pretty decent. no gaps, should work like its suppose to

ok, add the hard fuel line that runs around the fan shroud to the list of things i can't find.

but i may have remembered where the intake manifolds are. but i was being attacked by mosquitos so i closed up shop for the day.

Don't forget the little clip in tins that sit underneath the cylinders. I used to forget installing those all the time.

He has got a long block so SCAT should have installed them.
We call them "Idiotenbleche" over here by the way.



But there are two more "idiot tins" and IMHO there's a good chance they're missing at the (aftermarket) heads...

and some tin pieces (pre heat air deflectors and heater box tin) don't fit because of it. im assuming they replace the parts that don't fit (?)

found the intake manifold ends! they were not even close to being where i thought they were. i thought they were up in the rafters with some of my RC car stuff. they were actually in a box on an old tool box, under the workbench. i had completely forgotten i had a stash of parts under there. also found a set of German rods, a German oil pump, sump plate and strainer, and 2 sets of 85mm pistons/cylinders! so yeah, i got that going for me.
still no idea where the fuel pump and rod are thought

ok, clearanced the cylinder tin so the intake manifolds fit. found the barrel nut that goes in the carb that holds the throttle cable (forgot i had lost that). and am now looking at/for ways to mount the coil sense the fan shroud doesn't have mounts for it and i don't want to drill any holes (although a couple rivnuts would solve the problem) i like the clean look of not having the coil mounted on the shroud) so im looing for an option that will work with the stock fuel pump. all the behind the fuel pump/distributor mounts iv seeing seem to be set up for a breather box drain and not a stock fuel pump check rod. im open to suggestions if anyone has any.

also trying to figure out which distributor drive gear to use. iv got 2 in used but equally good condition, but one has a ridge up top and the other is smooth, not sure it really matters but anyone got an opinion or info on the matter?



i also went ahead and did something iv been putting off for 2 years. installing new bump stops on the rear. the one on the drivers side has been missing sense i got the car. so i finally replaced both of them cause why not. so that was at least a little motivating.

If the fan shroud has the dog house putting the coil on that slanted air baffle may be an option. But I have no idea if that tin is firm enough...



As for the distributor drive gear I have no clue. Have seen both versions but don't know which version is stock.
May be both but different years? IDK and can't remember the version that came with my then untouched stock '71 engine.

seems like a hot place to mount the coil. but i like the idea. i could even make a mount that used the factory tin hole. id need a longer wire to reach the distributor... hmmm... we'll throw that in the give it further thought pile.
