It looks like it would be but I'd wager it never sees water. That's pretty clearly a show queen.

Re: Imagery...

A different one than we normally see, I think. I'd totally build one of these.

Is it more popular than I realize or do you mean the couple we've shared in the thread?

I'd love like a Jeep FC or one of the old Ford Coes.

I think it's just a case of a person building something cool and everyone just copying it. Like the ultra-low VW gokart, busfront/bugback, bugfender scooter, if someone does something not seen, it seems a ton of people just hop on the bandwagon to the point of saturation.

Meet the VW Bulli like no other… Imagine a 1960s Volkswagen Type 2 “Bulli” turned into a mountain-climbing machine. Introducing the Half-Track Fox, a one-of-a-kind creation built by Austrian engineer Kurt Kretzner, designed to tackle snow, sand, streams and forests all at a modest 35 km/h top speed. With chain-driven rear tracks, dual front steering axles, and a unique design that kept it road-legal yet capable of conquering Alpine terrain, this Bulli still lives in VW’s Hanover heritage collection after a passionate restoration
