My best guess was that someone did that to a rod and then bolted it to the crank many, many years ago. If it happened while extended, even if it shattered the barrel, I'd think it would have decimated the case opening there.

Turin Motor Show 1962

A SAMAD advertisement for Volkswagen and Studebaker published in 1959 showing the factory in Utenhage (today, Kariega) in South Africa.
Volkswagen production started at this plant in 1951 and continues to the present day. Studebaker production began in 1948 and ended in 1965.

Saw this on marktplace. It's not well-done but would be a very fun short trip ride, I bet.

This was originally built by what is now become Village Customs before they became what they are. It's a 72 bettle with a 2.6l Chevy v6 mated to a vw bus trans and has air bag suspension. 99% of this beautiful car is custom.

finger flap gas door, not a 72. that's a 68 feature that disappeared in 69 and came back in 73. just sayin'

A long line of Karmann Kabrioletts in what looks to be army specifications, are leaving the premises of the Austrian importer, Porsche Konstruktion Ges.m.b.H. on Alpenstraße in Salzburg, Austria in the very early 1950s.
